Poker Player - Layne Flack

Layne Flack was born in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1969, he later moved with his family to Montana where he grew up. Layne's knowledge of cards began from an early age when he would play cards with his grandparents. Card playing extended into Layne's later life when he took up a job as a poker dealer while studying at College. It came to the point in Layne's life were he was no longer content with dealing cards so instead he started to play on a regular basis, eventually he became successful enough to give up his College studies and take up poker playing full time. During his playing time Layne met Huck Seed who immediately recognised Layne's talent for the game and encouraged him to start playing cards in Las Vegas. Huck Seed was right to encourage Layne's talent as he won the second tournament that he played in it was then that he decided to stay in Vegas to play the circuit. Along the way Layne picked up another mentor, Johnny Chan. They immediately clicked and Layne asked Johnny to help him extend his game, Johnny decided that it would be a good idea for Layne to sit behind him while he played. Layne's poker career has not been all plain sailing, he didn't really make an impression on the poker world until 2002 he would often lose a lot of his winnings in side games and bets and in 2004 Layne started to experiment with drugs until Layne's friend Daniel Negreanu stepped in playing $80,000 to put Layne through rehabilitation which he is know said to have recovered from his experience.

Layne most have been a very keen observer as he attends many of the major events and is often left playing at the final tables of these events, he has five World Series of Poker bracelets and he has career winnings stretching over $3,000,000, his aggressive playing style contributed to him being given the nickname Layne 'Back to Back' Flack after winning to consecutive World Series of Poker events in 2002. Layne's World Series of Poker bracelet wins include the 1999 $3,000 Pot Limit Hold'em winning $224,400, the 2002 $2,000 No Limit Hold'em when he won $303,880, the 2002 $1,500 No Limit Hold'em winning $268,020, the 2003 $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split winning $119,260 and the 2003 $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout when he won $120,000.

Layne's other high finishes include a 2nd place finish in the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em winning $133,000, a 3rd place finish in the 2000 $5,000 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo winning $59,400, a 3rd place finish in the 2001 $2,000 No Limit Hold'em winning $81,270, a 2nd place finish in the 2005 $1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em winning $185,855 and a 4th place finish in the 2005 $5,000 Short-Handed No Limit Hold'em winning $99,030. Layne has also made numerous appearances on the World Poker Tour and has captured one World Poker Tour title these accomplishments include a 2nd place finish in the World Poker Final winning $186,900 other finalists included were Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer, Layne won the World Poker Tour Invitational Tournament winning $125,000 and in 2004 he came in second in the UltimateBet.Com Poker Classic.

Layne also does poker speaking and corporate events organised by his agent Poker Royalty.
