David Levi - Poker Player Profile - Poker Tournaments

Poker Player - David Levi

David Levi is a well known and respected professional poker player although you may be forgiven for not knowing what he looks like. Unlike many other pro poker players around today, David Levi doesn't seem to get as much TV Coverage as everyone else. There are many people out there who feel David Levi deserves more TV coverage but unfortunately for David, his tight playing style - although proving to be successful when it comes to professional poker tournaments - works against him when it comes to TV coverage. There is another reason why David Levi has not had the amount of TV coverage that many people feel he should have and this is the fact that David is extremely pleasant at the poker table - he is polite, friendly and well mannered. The media however loves to focus on the bad guy, people don't want to see polite players at a poker table, they want to see aggressive, obnoxious, rude people who are going to provide more action and entertainment than poker alone, this is what ratings are all about! Or so the television networks would have you believe.

It is a shame we don't see more of David Levi on televised poker events as he is a tremendous player and his tournament results have been excellent. He has gained an extensive knowledge of the game in the years he has played poker and is one of the most grounded people in the industry today.

David Levi never set out to be a professional poker player. Originally from Israel, David Levi was a professional soccer (football) player before he, like many others before and since, decided to pursue a career in professional poker and now it seems has hung up his football boots for good. David Levi began playing poker many years ago starting off playing in smaller events and working his way up to the bigger games.

David has been very successful at tournaments in a variety of different games although seven card stud seems to be the game he has had the most success in. David has had numerous final table appearances including twelve final table appearances in 2003 alone. 2003 was in fact a tremendous year for David Levi who took home 1st and 3rd place finishes in the seven card stud events at the Poker Championship of California, a 1st place finish in stud at the Legends and a 1st place finish in Omaha at the Grand Slam. It may be said that David Levi has had the most success in seven card stud but he has proven he can certainly hold his own in a variety of games - he has also had final table appearances in no limit hold 'em, limit hold 'em and pot limit hold 'em. In fact it was a limit hold 'em event in which David Levi took home his biggest win to date, finishing in 1st place at the Bellagio Five Diamond Classic Limit Hold 'em event (the first tournament event ever held at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas) and netting himself a cool $159,000 in the process. David Levi was also a strong competitor at the Commerce Casino California State Poker Championship in 2004 where he won the $2,500 no limit hold 'em event and also won the 4500 seven card stud event. David then went on to finish 4th place in the $500 no limit hold 'em with rebuys tournament.

David Levi used to live in Los Angeles with fellow tournament enthusiast and friend, Amir Vahedi but, like countless other poker pros, David now resides in Las Vegas. When he's not participating in a tournament you can usually find him at the Bicycle casino.

David Levi is a well respected and talented player. Although he has been playing the game for many years now and has built up an extensive knowledge of the game he is continuously trying to improve his game. He learns not only from his own mistakes but also from observing others. Although he may make the occasional mistake, after all he is only human, David Levi is very careful to learn from his mistakes and experience and unlike some professional poker players; you won't ever see him making the same mistakes over and over again.
