The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, formerly known as the Aladdin, boasts excellent restaurants, top-notch shopping and superb entertainment value. Located right in the middle of the Strip next to the Paris Casino, Planet Hollywood is at an ideal location for the Las Vegas explorer.
The original Aladdin hotel, which had been around since the 1960s, was imploded in 1998. After being rebuilt from the ground up, it was renamed the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in early 2007.
One of the highlights of the Planet Hollywood hotel is the stunning entry lobby, which has eight massive chandeliers and smooth, black granite floors. Bright LED lights behind the check-in counter continuously change color.
The Planet Hollywood Casino is one of the friendliest and most welcoming in Vegas. At 100,000 square feet, it is also quite large. Over 2,800 slot machines and 87 gaming tables await your playing enjoyment. Tall, colored pillars rise majestically to the ceiling from the floor. Ambient, multi-colored neon lights are everywhere on the ceiling and the walls. The Heart Bar, located on the center stage of the casino floor, is a chic hotspot to catch some drinks and be served by attractive cocktail waitresses scantily clad in black leather. The mezzanine level, which overlooks the main casino floor, features a laid back sports book with 50 seats and a poker room. For an alternative gaming experience, try the London Club, a 35,000 square foot European gaming salon.
Planet Hollywood is home to the Miracle Mile Shops, one of the largest malls in Las Vegas. With more than 140 stores and over a dozen eateries, the Miracle Mile attracts visitors from all over the city. Urban Outfitters, Build-A-Bear, GAP body, Z Gallerie, bebe, and The Discovery Channel all have outlets here, meaning there is something available for every taste.
World-class entertainment abounds at Planet Hollywood. Inside the mall, one can find the V theatre, which features V – The Ultimate Variety Show and other great performances like The Fab Four, Gregory Popovich’s Comedy Pet Theatre and Nathan Burton’s Comedy Magic. One of the finest concert venues in Vegas, the Theatre for the Performing Arts at Planet Hollywood, is located near the main entrance to the mall. On the mezzanine level, the Stomp Out Loud Showroom features the innovative sound show Stomp Out Loud.
The nightlife at Planet Hollywood is also second to none. The hip Triq Nightclub and Ultra Lounge or the gay nightclub Krave both offer exciting nighttime experiences and crazy parties. If you get hungry, Planet Hollywood has you covered there, too. There are too many restaurants to list, but let’s just say there is something for everyone. Some of the best places to dine include: P.F. Chang’s Chinese Bistro, Spice Market Buffet, Asia, La Salsa Cantina, Oyster Bay Seafood and Wine Bar, and Pampas Brazilian Grille.
If all the excitement becomes a little bit too much for you, try visiting the Planet Hollywood Spa by Mandara. This tranquil place provides wonderful body therapies from around the planet, in addition to sauna and steam rooms. When you feel the need to cool down, check out the two large pools and two Jacuzzis. There is also a health club for visitors who want to keep the pounds off while on the vacation diet.
If you decide to have a large get-together at Planet Hollywood, there a 37,000 square foot ballroom; in addition, there is a lovely wedding chapel for those couples looking to take the plunge in Las Vegas. Other hotel amenities include: a 10-story parking garage, concierge, currency exchange, laundry and luggage services, a safety deposit box and wake-up calls.
